Off-campus flight locations are often ideal — they have features like working agricultural land that are of interest to researchers, and remote areas with low population density allow for more robust operations with relatively low safety risks.
The UAS Oversight Committee has developed specific protocols to enable those flights. See these pages for more details:
- Flying at Kentland Farm
- Flying at Agricultural Research and Experiment Stations
- Flying on university property not covered by a specific protocol
- Flying university-owned UAS outside university property
